Astrografia is a reflective exploration that merges Greek traditional music, the vitality of jazz, and the intimate resonance of acoustic instruments. The eight original compositions—“Efterpi,” “Kathreftis,” “Astrografia,” “Metamorfosis,” “Nichterini plefsi,” “Terpsichori,” “Moonrise,” and “Xorki”—weave together worlds of sound, evoking both the cosmic and the deeply personal. Vrachnos describes it as “a reflection of the Music of the Celestial Spheres,” a self-invented myth told through the voices of four musicians attuned to each other’s subtle interplay.
Recorded on November 30, 2023, at Cue Studio Records in Thessaloniki (with “Metamorfosis” captured at Royal Alzheimer Hall Studio), Astrografia embraces a warm, organic feel that highlights the ensemble’s chemistry. Recording, mixing, and mastering were handled by Yanis Mavridis, with subsequent remastering by Petros Klampanis, who also served as Executive Producer. The album’s visual identity, created by Rédsky Design with cover artwork by Petra Kavrakidou, mirrors the music’s narrative depth and cultural richness.
From improvisational dialogues rooted in jazz to the subtle echoes of Greek folk traditions, Astrografia stands as both an artistic statement and a promise of new creative directions emerging from Greece’s vibrant musical scene.
