Released in 1996, Beats, Rhymes And Life was a break in terms of tone and outlook from their previous work, tonally much darker and less optimistic. Yielding the singles ‘1nce Again’ and the excellent Faith Evans collab ‘Stressed Out’, it was produced in part by J Dilla, who was part of The Ummah production team alongside Tribe’s Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.
