Drawing from the pioneering work of artists like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, and Suicide, electronic/avant-industrial icons Skinny Puppy exploded onto the music scene in the early 1980s, fusing elements of new wave, techno, film-noir, and innovative sampling. Lead by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) and Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie), the band quickly garnered a loyal international fanbase.
Released in 1986, Skinny Puppy’s second studio album Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse is infamous for both its pornographic album photo (the political backlash resulted in the Parental Advisory Label) and for inspiring the next generation of Industrial Music contemporaries (Nine Inch Nails) with tracks like "Dig It" and "Stairs and Flowers".
