Ultra in demand modern soul floorpacker "Man of mine" by soul funk diva Betty Wright. Born in Miami on 1953 Betty Wright proved to be a consistently strong presence on the soul scene throughout the '70s and '80s. During the 70s she scored smashing hits like Clean up woman, "Shoorah! Shoorah!," and "Where Is the Love" Man of mine is taken from her lp This time for real and was released as a single on Alston label in 1977. The original 45 is a mega rare and massive in demand record that changes hands for hundreds of pounds on ebay. The track is currently a big spin in all modern soul rooms.

On the other side taking inspiration from classic library records produced by companies like Telemusic and KPM, multi-instrumentalist and singer Shawn Lee is a little genius. Psychedelic Sambai is an energic, upbeat breakbeat groover with funky electric guitar and organ riffs dropping left and right atop a perfectly realized ode to the 70s taken from his debut album Music and Rhythm on Ubiquity Records. Shawn Lee during his career has played and recorded with a diverse range of artists including Coldcut, Leeann Rhimes, Martina Mcbride, UNKLE, Tony Joe White, Chateau flight, The Dust Brothers, St. Etienne, Jeff Buckley, Bomb the Bass not to mention solo records for Talkin Loud and Wall of Sound imprint We Love You. Trust me this track is a monster!
