Laibach present MUSICK, their first original studio album since Spectre, and a work that is intensely pop while remaining unmistakably Laibach. The album operates as both celebration and critique of a moment defined by warped realities and algorithmic imitation.

The title captures a deliberate duality. On one hand, it reflects saturation and fatigue in an age where tens of thousands of tracks appear daily, many generated by machines, blurring the line between the real and the artificial. On the other, it points to a kind of pathological devotion: the compulsion to keep making music despite, or because of, that excess.

Created through a maximalist process in the group’s Ljubljana studio, MUSICK draws on analogue synthesis, toys, computers loaded with sound apps and a dense collage of production techniques. Collaborators include Donna Marina Mårtensson and Richard X, adding further texture to the record’s layered construction.

While the album absorbs the surface languages of K-pop, J-pop and 1990s Eurodance, Laibach insist their primary influence remains themselves. The result is a self-referential, confrontational pop statement that feels both of its time and sharply critical of it.
