"While creating this project I was struck by the misleading sense that these -and countless more- pieces were old.
These works were never old. We made them old by framing them in centuries, by calling them “periods”. These composers were never confined to their centuries. We confined them there.
“Nowhen Sonatas” asks a simple question: what happens if these works are removed from history?
If they are no longer Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist — but suspended outside of time?
What if the sonatas are so broken apart and changed that there is no internal structure of the pieces we loved through the centuries?
Electronic ambient music implemented with field recordings is not just an aesthetic choice, it is a catalyst for dissolving forms into atmosphere. It stretches harmony into scope. It allows articulation to become imprecise.
I am not adding synthesizers to classical music. I am revealing that these pieces were always suspended.
Repetition existed before minimalism.
Atmosphere existed before ambience.
Obscurity existed before modernism.
NOWHEN SONATAS is my attempt to let them exist outside chronicle — to place Purcell next to Debussy, Chopin next to Satie, not as history but as coexistence.
