Barry Adamson — founding member of Magazine and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and an acclaimed solo artist and composer — returns with the original soundtrack to SCALA!!!, the documentary exploring the wild history of London’s most notorious independent cinema. Known for his cinematic sensibility and collaborations with David Lynch, Adamson brings his signature mix of noir, jazz, funk and mood to a score that channels the Scala’s unruly spirit: late nights, sticky floors, and a haze of sleaze, sex and subversive art.

Across 22 pieces, Adamson’s music mirrors the cinema’s heady mix of menace and mischief — shifting from shadowy, filmic tension to cheeky bursts of chaos. Directed by Jane Giles and Ali Catterall, the film celebrates the King’s Cross repertory cinema (1978–1993) that became a haven for counterculture and cult obsession, with contributions from John Waters, Mary Harron, Isaac Julien, Mark Moore and Ben Wheatley.
