Joshua Redman's Words Fall Short marks the debut of his new quartet, featuring Paul Cornish on piano, Philip Norris on bass, and Nazir Ebo on drums. Originally formed for the tour behind Redman’s Blue Note debut where are we, the group’s tight chemistry led him to bring them into the studio to record this set of original material.

Written during the pandemic, the compositions move through moods of wistfulness, sorrow and determination, shaped by the quartet’s growing synergy on the road. The album also includes guest contributions from saxophonist Melissa Aldana, trumpeter Skylar Tang, and vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa.
