EPIRUS QUARTET - INVERSE EP / RSD RELEASE

Η Fairweather Friends Records σε συνεργασία με το δισκοπωλείο "Λωτός" παρουσιάζουν ,στα πλαίσια της Record Store Day 2020, το EP των Epirus Quartet "Inverse".
Oι Epirus Quartet είναι ένα ελληνοαμερικανικό jazz σχήμα με έδρα το Austin του Τέξας και επιστρέφουν στη δισκογραφία μετά το άλμπουμ "Transatlantic" του 2014. Οι Epirus Quartet σε αυτή την ηχογράφηση αποτελούνταν από τους Nikolas Bouklas, Michael Patrick St.Clair (Polyphonic Spree, Okkervil River), Sam Pankey, Jeffrey Olson (White Denim), ενώ η ηχογράφηση, η μίξη και το mastering έγινε από τον Sam Patlove, που κατά καιρούς είχε την τεχνική επιμέλεια ηχογραφήσεων μιας ευρείας γκάμας καλλιτεχνών (Bill Callahan, J Mascis, Daniel Johnston, Colin Stetson, Femi Kuti, Shabazz Palaces κ. αλ.).
Το "Inverse" ηχογραφήθηκε ζωντανά στο στούντιο και σηματοδοτεί μια στροφή των Epirus Quartet σε ένα πιο "ελεύθερο" ήχο και φόρμες. Διακατέχεται από ένα έντονο δυναμισμό και δε φοβάται να γίνει τραχύ. Εμπλουτισμένο σε σημεία από παραδοσιακά, ψυχεδελικά και "spiritual" στοιχεία, αποτυπώνει στις αναπτύξεις του έναν ιδιαίτερα δημιουργικό και εμπνευσμένο διάλογο των μουσικών.
Κυκλοφορεί το Σάββατο 29 Αυγούστου, σε μια ιδιαίτερα περιορισμένη έκδοση 132 αντιτύπων.

Fair Weather Friends Records in collaboration with Lotus record shop are proud to present Epirus Quartet’s new EP release, “Inverse”.

Based in Austin, Texas via Greece; this is the jazz outfit’s second release following 2014’s “Transatlantic”.

The live studio recording finds Nikolas Bouklas sharing the studio with Michael Patrick St. Clair (Polyphonic Spree, Okkervil River), Sam Pankey and Jeffrey Olson (White Denim).

Recording, mixing and mastering credits go to Sam Patlove who has worked with numerous artists such as Bill Callahan, J. Mascis, Daniel Johston, Colin Stetson, Femi Kuti, Shabazz Palaces etc.

“Inverse” sees Epirus Quartet embrace free jazz sounds and forms. At times, raw and intense, blending the spiritual and psychedelic with the folklore of the Greek mountainous landscape, the recording reflects the diverse, unconventional and inspired conversation between the musicians.

Released on Saturday, August 29 in an extremely limited pressing of 132 copies.
